Angelini Academy: where we started out, what is our Purpose and where we want to go

Training is key to our development.

Sergio Marullo di Condojanni

CEO - Angelini Industries

Our Group CEO believes firmly in this, and from here we imagined and designed the Angelini Academy, the Angelini Industries corporate academy.

This article presents our origins, some of our distinguishing features and the path we aim to take in the future. In doing so, we were inspired by the White Paper “Angelini Academy: an innovation and inspiration model” published in October 2023 by the Harvard Business Review Italia.

Our roots: Angelini Industries

The history of Angelini Academy is a history in the making, accompanying the growth and development of a continuously transforming Group like Angelini Industries.

Founded in Ancona and with over 100 years of history, the Angelini Industries Group works in 3 business sectors: health, industrial technology and consumer goods. A solid and complex industrial group that today employs around 5,800 people working directly in 21 countries worldwide.

The birth

Angelini Academy was officially launched in May 2018 e and in July 2020 took on its current operational structure. In fact, the idea of investing in training and human resources development with an Academy run by Angelini was already thought of by the Angelini family in the early 2000s, when it launched the Angelini Management School.

The aim? To develop the managerial skills of young graduates, integrating what they learned during their university studies with the skills required to work in a company.

In 2018 the Angelini Industries Group worked on a major growth path, moving into an increasingly international dimension.

The need therefore emerged to innovate its training, focusing not only on basic managerial skills to rapidly train a competent and efficient human capital, but also increasingly targeted skills to allow the talents to develop their skills to support the business. The Angelini Academy was founded with this in mind.

Spreading the Group’s values and the central focus of our Purpose

The first great challenge tackled by the Angelini Academy was to help spread a new system of values, developed in the period immediately beforehand.

The Angelini Industries identity and culture are based on four founding values:

  • Ethics and responsibility:we take care of our employees, patients and consumers. Respect for the highest ethical principles underlies all our actions and our decisions are guided by a long-term perspective. We are committed to the sustainable economic development of the company, safeguarding the environment and communities in which we operate.
  • Innovation: each of us is responsible for achieving our own and the Team's goals. We are determined to make things happen and give our best in every circumstance, with speed, rigour and transparency. We pursue excellence, constantly striving to meet ambitious targets. We face difficulties with determination and resilience.
  • Performance: we encourage the development and testing of new effective and practical solutions. We challenge the status quo. We manage the complexity and demands of an ever-changing world. We take responsibility for making bold choices for the growth and development of the company. We learn from our mistakes and pursue continuous improvement.
  • Engagement: we are positive, motivated and open to new ideas, styles and perspectives. We promote collaboration within the Group. We enhance skills and reward merit. We share and celebrate the successes of our company and those of our people.

They represent the fundamental premise for carrying out all the Group's activities, including those of the Angelini Academy.

This clear, synergic and integrated vision is also well represented by telling the Purpose of the Academy, Growing Together

“Our Academy exists in order to imagine, design and build the growth of the Angelini Industries world and the communities we cooperate with, along with the people who are part of these.”

A pillar that looks to the future

Since July 2020, the Angelini Academy has been redesigning its operational model to provide additional and complementary training to that proposed by its operational companies; shifting the centre of action forward, it started to look towards innovation, with an attitude that still guides its choices today.

The people accessing the training programmes have perceived three key values

  • exposure to cutting-edge skills;
  • interaction with international business schools;
  • cross-contamination with colleagues from all the companies in the Group.

With its roots in the past and an eye on the future, the Angelini Academy therefore embodies the essence of innovation and growth in Angelini Industries. As the old saying goes, “education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world" - and the Academy has become the Group’s lever for a sustainable and prosperous future.
